Piercing: Which face jewel to choose?

You finally fell for a facial piercing, but you don't know which jewel to choose? Depending on the area drilled, there are many possibilities, more or less obvious. Discover some tips for making your selection.

How to choose the right piercing?

Do you dream of a piercing on your face but you haven't taken the plunge yet? It's time to think about the ideal location! There are a multitude of possibilities. Indeed, between classic piercing and micro-dermal implant, it is possible to place a jewel almost anywhere you want: on the nose, ears, contours of the mouth, cheek, neck... If you hesitate, think of making simulations using for example mounting software. Place dots on a picture of yourself, to try to see what would look best on you. If you want a discreet piece of jewellery, opt for ear piercings instead. They have the advantage of being quite well accepted in society! Between the cartilage and the folds of the ear, all kinds of fantasies are allowed. However, one thing to know: your morphology will be able to determine the feasibility or not of certain piercings. Also think about the practicality: it is difficult to wear glasses with a "bridge" piercing, located at the level of the bridge of the nose, between the two eyes. As for the piercings around the mouth, they have a reputation for damaging teeth. However, this problem can be avoided by choosing a competent piercer.

Face piercing: choose the right size

A few rules must be respected when choosing an appropriate piercing size. Those around the mouth, such as the labret, are drilled with a thickness of 1.2 or 1.6 mm. The length of the bar depends on your morphology. It should neither compress the skin nor protrude too much to avoid snagging. On the jewellery side, you will have the choice between small balls or rhinestones of 3 to 5 mm on average: it is up to you to choose according to the level of discretion you want! For a piercing like the septum, located between the two nostrils, you will also have the choice between jewellery with a thickness of 1.2 mm or 1.6 mm. In case of doubt, do not hesitate to ask your piercer for advice! As a general rule, know that the rings are a little thicker than the bars, to avoid cuts due to friction. For a nose cartilage, you will turn to a diameter of 1.2 mm. More discreet, it is perfectly suited to this area.

Face piercing: choose the right style of jewellery

You don't know how to find your way around the wide range of jewellery available? Each area has its own essentials! For labret piercing, you will have the choice between different types of accessories. For a very feminine look, you can rely on a small rhinestone. On the material side, the bar must be made of hypoallergenic plastic. For nose cartilage, avoid oversized jewellery that may appear disproportionate. If you are pierced at the lower lip, you may choose a closed ring or horseshoe. Prefer to ask your piercer for advice to choose a size adapted to your morphology. As for the septum, particularly fashionable at the moment, it offers a very wide range of choices! You can put a horseshoe or a closed ring on it. All kinds of fantasies are possible: dare to use worked jewellery, ethnic style, or with pearls! For more discretion, you can also bet on a simple curved bar.
